The ferociously talented and much loved Adrienne Shelly was taken from us a year ago today. Since her tragic death her final film WAITRESS became one of the most acclaimed works of the year (and should garner its star Keri Russell and Oscar nomination) and The Adrienne Shelly Foundation has been set up to support young female filmmakers.
The lovely and sweet WAITRESS hits DVD in just a few weeks, and I suspect that it will find an even bigger and more adoring audience on disc. Shelly's final work is one of my favorite films of the year and giving it a pre-order or at least keeping it in mind would be a nice way to celebrate the career of this wonderful American original, who was taken from us way too soon.
