Sylvester Stallone Film Poll

Thanks to everyone who voted in last weeks poll. It turned out to be the most popular one I have hosted along with the Jennifer Connelly one from a couple of weeks ago. The results were surprising in some spots (who knew that there were so many fans of CLIFFHANGER?) and I think the variety here shows the diversity that Sly has exhibited in his career. It was a lot of fun and here are the results:

1. COPLAND (47)
5. DEATH RACE 2000 (29)
6. COBRA (24)
7. LOCK UP (24)
10. FIST (19)
11. OVER THE TOP (19)
12. DAYLIGHT (17)
15. JUDGE DREAD (15)
16. VICTORY (14)
17. GET CARTER (14)
18. DRIVEN (12)

Next weeks poll will be posted later today. Thanks again for those who continue to participate and if you haven't seen it yet, go check out RAMBO as it really is a truly thrilling and unforgettable film.

I see my favorite of his came in #2, but I did enjoy Copland. I liked Cliffhanger too. Great poll. I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks Keith...this was a fun one to put on and I am thrilled about the top two. I like CLIFFHANGER but would have put it below films like COBRA, VICTORY, FIST, PARADISE ALLEY and even DAYLIGHT.

Is it just that not many people have seen LORDS OF FLATBUSH? Because, to me and some of my friends, "Look down, Chico" is a much more oft-used catchphrase than anything found in these other films. Sly's performance in these weird little old school indie is deranged, often unintelligible, and totally brilliant. (That being said I love him in COPLAND and my childhood would've been incomplete without OVER THE TOP.)

You forgot THE SPECIALIST! ALthough highly flawed, it has a good premise and an AMAZING score by JOHN BARRY!

Thanks Ed,
I think LORDS OF FLATBUSH is widely unseen and I agree with your sentiments (although I must admit that it has been years since I have seen it!)
I am going to have to give it a fresh look...thanks for the comments...

Hey Matthew,
I'm not sure why I left THE SPECIALIST out. It wasn't a favorite of mine but any film with Sly and Sharon Stone scored by John Barry should have been on there...sorry I left it out.

LORDS OF FLATBUSH is one of those films that is so wonderful and amazing in some sections that you're totally willing to overlook the awful, cheesy elements. Like the songs.

Rambo was not a favorite or even recognized by me until the recent release of Rambo 4 .
I pulled out the dvds and saw Rambo 3 and Rambo 2.
Rambo 3 was about telling it was of today events there.
Rambo2 was about how Vietnam vets were mistreated at home, besides the obvious ,Rambo searching for MIAs.
I have to make a statement:
These movies predicted the future. At the time they were beyond my abilities to understand what I was looking at.
Stallone you are great.
Nice Blog Vince

I'm puzzled. Where's First Blood?

I left out the ROCKY and RAMBO movies to focus on Sly's other films...that's why there is no FIRST BLOOD. Thanks...

Ah. Sorry I should have read the post properly. Great blog btw. You've inspired me to rewatch my favourite Stallone films, and catch the ones I havn't seen yet (such as Nighthawks). Cheers
