A Double-Dip You Can't Refuse

Paramount has officially announced the new five disc Godfather Collection and the details can be read here at DVD Active. The set includes everything the older one did as well as a bonus disc of all new featurettes. The first two films have reportedly been completely restored and the third film has been remastered. This is frankly one of the no-brainer purchases of the fall for me.

Here is a trailer advertising the upcoming release:

Yeah, I read about this today and can't wait. The previous DVD set, while having some awesome extras, had pretty shoddy transfers for these landmark films. I'm so glad they've finally gone in and cleaned 'em up. I just re-watched APOCALYPSE NOW for the upteenth time last weekend and was amazed at the work done on cleaning up that film. Thank god Coppola is into preserving his legacy.

I am excited about these as well and hope they get the treatment they deserve. Coppola has been great about his canon and I hope it continues with further special editions down the line.

I've seen some screenshots and the new transfers look amazing! And, FINALLY, Part II is all on one DVD! Huzzah...

Thanks J.D. and Keith...Glad I finally won't have to switch discs (or tapes!) on GODFATHER PART II. This set does look terrific.
