The Kim Novak Collection Coming in August

One of my favorite things about Facebook, my social-networking site of choice, is sharing links with friends on upcoming releases and such. However, the bad thing is that these are often links that I would have shared here instead in the early days of Moon in the Gutter. One release I couldn't not promote here though is the very exciting Kim Novak Collection that is coming out in less than a month now on August 3rd. A long-time coming for Novak devotees, of which I am a card-carrying member, this set includes remastered version of Bell, Book and Candle (my favorite), Picnic, Jeanne Eagels, Pal Joey and Middle of the Night. The set was produced with Kim's corporation and each film includes a featurette featuring an interview with her, as well as some other extras. And the cherry on top is that the set will be extremely reasonably priced for just around thirty dollars. So place a pre-order to support one of Hollywood's greatest and most enduring stars and thanks to Columbia Classics for releasing this (when many of the major companies are scaling back new sets in favor of just fancy repackages).

Bell, Book and Candle is a movie I've wanted to see for a while.

My favourite Kim Novak movie is the much-maligned but delightfully camp The Legend of Lylah Clare, directed by one of my favourite eccentric auteurs, Robert Aldrich. I love Aldrich's movies about women.

The Legend of Lylah Clare is one of the big missing in action titles right now. We NEED a DVD and Blu Ray Special Edition of that ASAP! Thanks D.

This is so on my wish list.

Completely agree with you about 'The Legend of Lylah Clare' - it's been too long since I've seen that movie!

I've only seen the TCM print of The Legend of Lylah Clare, which unfortunately is fullscreen and a bit washed out. But I was glad to at least see the movie. A restored widescreen DVD would certainly be appreciated.

I am definitely looking forward to this one! Love BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE. Her chemistry with Jimmy Stewart was dynamite!
