This may be my fave Cronenberg film of all time (with NAKED LUNCH a close second) so I'll be picking up Tim's book for sure (altho, I'm still working my way thru the Bava book - oof!). I really love the deluxe treatment the folks at Criterion gave the film, right down to the way-cool packaging (the box designed as a VHS tape). VIDEODROME, in a lot of ways, has been very prescient, anticipating the so-called torture porn genre, reality TV, etc. What a great film.

Nice image selection, btw Jeremy.

Like JD, I'm still working my way through the Bava tome, but I'll definitely get my hands on Tim's Videodrome book (may have to rely on a Xmas present though, as money is too tight at moment). I rewckon this film was way ahead of its time, and JD makes a great point regarding the torture porn genre. For sure, it's in my DC top 3, along with Dead Ringers and Crash.

Very nice work, patron. I can't wait to read Tim's book as well. I'm sure it will be an essential volume to have with me as I watch my Criterion DVD for the umpteenth time.

It seems like I've been hearing about Tim's book for years, can't wait to read it. Like most Cronenberg movies, there's nothing else like "Videodrome."

Thanks guys for the comments. I have been meaning to include this one on the series and the timing of Tim's book release made it perfect...it's my favorite Cronenberg with RABID, CRASH, THE DEAD ZONE and THE BROOD rounding out my top five.

I often say that Lynch is my favorite director, but in actuality and consistency it might actually be Cronenberg and this is certainly the one that launched his new discussions on medium, sexuality, obsession, and hidden history that have dominated his most recent work. CRASH has become my favorite work of his, but all of them are important and he is so consistent...it's really incredible. This is certainly in my top 5 Cronenberg, although that is quite a list to make for me. But VIDEODROME reallt affected me in ways that some of the other horror never did. Really really incredible. In fact, I think might watch this right now. :)
