Beautiful film, isn't it?

There is so much that could be said about this film, probably best for me to just concur with you, and thank God for the 70's.

I will say this about that decade; there have been many great films over the first century of cinema, but I would have to tag the seventies as the 'best'.

Is it because I grew up with them? I don't know. What if films during that decade did indeed explore the greater possibilities and potential of the poetry of cinema more thoroughly, and across the board- from the low budget to the top of the scale?

I see little evidence of it from the eighties on, nor do I really expect to see it again. I'm sure there was crass commercialism during the seventies, but how come I never saw it as such?

Am I romantising the period unnecessarily? I have been accused of it before.

Oh well. What can I say, except thank you for the great blog...
