I love this movie, and Burton's performance. Although I think Ava Gardner steals the picture! But then I'm a major Ava Gardner fan.

The whole cast is just amazing from Gardner to Kerr to Sue Lyon. It's such a terrific film and it's one of my favorite Williams plays as well. Thanks again!
Yes, I agree, so many fine performances in one film. It's probably the most successful movie adaptation ever of Tennessee Williams (as much as I love Elia Kazan's Baby Doll).
And in my view one of Huston's two or three best films (along with the criminally underrated The Man Who Would Be King).
Ah yes, BABY DOLL is another real favorite. As far as Huston goes, he's not one of my guys in general but he's made some of my favorite films including this and THE MISFITS towards the top of the list. Believe it or not I have still yet to see THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING!
I believe he originally wanted to do The Man Who Would Be King years earlier, with Bogart. I'm so glad he didn't. Sean Connery and Michael Caine are perfect. Caine gives his career-best performance. It took Huston 30 years to get to make the film, but it was worth the wait.
Great presence. And no one has a voice like that these days
