That's cool! Drowning in guilt and grief with the spotlight on. Reminds me of a post I did on "Storm Warning" awhile back that triggered an urge to do a post on nothing but flash-points, the moment the cameras pop off.
It really goes well with John Barry's elegiac end-credits music.
Ever since Peter Jackson's version appeared, it seems, more people have been ready to find virtues in Guillermin's, as if its many limitations have become virtues in light of Jackson's excesses. I don't know if I can ever say the Guillermin is a good film, but it definitely has its moments.
Thanks guys,
This film is a real personal favorite of mine (one of the pivotal films of my childhood) so I appreciate reading your thoughts.
