What a great film this is. Between that and SYRIANA, George Clooney had a pretty good year. Beautiful B&W cinematography and a fantastic performance by David Strathairn. Great stuff and nice images, btw, Jeremy.
Thanks JD, While i thought Clooney's directorial debut was fairly solid, I really thought he knocked it out of the park with this one. Wonderfully directed, acted and of course an extremely sincere look at an important chapter in American history.
Sorry yo, but I give this film a big fat "Eh." I saw it twice all the way through and various parts countless other times when we had it at my theater and I always wished that I liked it more. I just don't think it has (m)any levels...the whole thing seemed one note. I don't want wild drama or anything, but this always seemed bland to me, other than Strathairn's solid performance. Also, I remember being annoyed at all of its period detail and then handheld camera. Inconsistent!
Anyways, just being a dissenter today for Halloween I guess. Gotta be a Scrooge sometime. :)
