So true, this film is one of Godard's best. I can't figure out if New Yorker still owns the rights to this, or whether mk2 is able to license it out to another interested company at some point.
Thanks Filmbo,
I think it's one of Godard's most shockingly great films and it's criminal that it hasn't been more readily available in the States. Thanks for the comments...
Great choice Jeremy. It's criminal how many of Godard's films are unavailable -- this one at least can be found in Region 2. This was my first exposure to post-60s Godard, and needless to say I've been hooked on Godard's later career ever since. The scene of the businessman's mechanically kinky dalliance with a prostitute is seared into my brain as one of Godard's most memorable images: sex transformed by capitalism into the mere repetition of ritualistic acts.
Thanks Ed,
That scene you mentioned is one of the most memorable in all of Godard's canon. Glad to hear you admire the film as well.
This film looks beautiful. As Ed and Filmbo said it's a shame how many of Godard's films are not on DVD here. I'd love to see some of the films you've had featured here.
Here's another film for you, in a completely different vein. LOL.
Thanks later.

ANY film that stars Isabelle Huppert - surely one of the most fearless and talented actresses currently working in film - and isn't available is a crime.
I can't think of many other performers who have so consistently, and so challengingly, engaged with on-the-edge film-making as Ms Huppert.
