Just recently saw The Brood for the first time and it was like a slap upside the head. I can't remember the last time I was so creeped out. I wrote a brief post on it at Retrospace.
BTW: I rented The Brood thanks to your Rabid post.
Thanks Gilligan,
I will check out your post on it. Thanks for the link. The Brood is incredibly disturbing isn't it and is still packs a punch. It always amazes me that Scanners is so well known among the early Cronenberg films as I think it isn't as nearly as great as Shivers, Rabid or The Brood (or even Fast Company for that matter)...anyway, thanks again.
I really like this Videodrome box, but that might just be because it reminds me a lot of Vertigo. I should watch both of those again...
Thanks Jacob,
Yea that cover does resemble Vertogo doesn't it? I love Criterion's design for it...conceptually just brilliant.
I think The Brood is Cronenberg's best film. I really do. It just terrifies me.
I didn't like Videodrome the first time I saw it and then, years later, someone I worked with urged me to rewatch it. I was not disappointed. I think maybe I was just not ready for all that Cronenberg had to offer.
