Okay I will admit it- these stills have illustrated that just maybe there is another way to look at this movie- some of those stills could be lifted from a giallo. I wonder, did Dario Argento have any artistic input into the film at all?; January 5, 2009 at 10:22 AM

I tried not to repeat too many of the images that are often seen from this film.
Yes, Argento did have something to do with the film. He helped finance and produce it, introduced Romero to Goblin and even put together an alternate cut for the European market called 'Zombie'.

I think what you ve done here is great and its probably the sort of thing I would try to do- not only playing with but subverting expectations. Because what you (I believe) are trying to show is not just that this is a zombie film but also illustrating how this film works on an artistic level.

To be honest I ve seen the film more times than I can count but these screen caps you have made have got me thinking maybe I should attempt to watch in a different way. So again brilliant work here. If the intention was to get people to look at the film in a slightly different way then that has worked on me!

Incidentally the only reason I mentioned Argento and artistic input is because while I was aware of him being a producer I wasn;t sure if he had any hands on work with Romero, particularly the screencaps of shop dummies here got me thinking of Bava and a few other fashion house set giallo scenes. Romero's film is a an incredible combination of heavy social commentary on consumer culture gone wild, a remarkable snapshot of America at a pivotal period and a kick ass zombie film as well.
