Marilyn at Ferdy on Films had a review of this a few years ago where she tore into it; apparently Preminger kind of slaughtered the book on which it was based (I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I'm intrigued by both).

A very underrated movie. And Sinatra is very underrated as a serious actor.
